Phlogius sp. (Proserpine)
Max size: 180mm
Distribution: Near the town of Proserpine, large coastal species likely a P. crassipes variant
Habitat: Opportunistic, often burrowing but have adapted well to human encroachment creating homes amongst clutter
Feeding: Appropriate sized feeder insects, medium crickets, woodies and BSF are ideal
Phlogius proserpine, a stunning crassipes locality, in many ways resembling the crassipes from Mackay and Sarina. With very little notable natural barriers between populations it is likely these are all synonymous, slight variations between locales but all belonging to one species.
Entering the hobby back in 2017, they’ve only become readily available in the last 12 months. With adults from 2017 possibly maturing in 2020 it looks like this locality will gain a firm footing in the hobby for years to come.
