Selenotypus platinum, is often found with Phlogius strenuus living amongst their population. This seemingly dwarf Selenotypus locale has yet to be recorded exceeding 100mm in leg span making it quite unique amongst the tableland Selenotypus which all grow to 140-160mm, with Northern and Rose (Pilo) plumipes growing the largest. Besides size Selenotypus platinum can be distinguished from its closest appearing relative by its beautiful “platinum” post moult colouration from which it gets its name, aswell as not exhibiting the swollen tibia as in Sp4.
